The Musicanta Family

Chagné Compaan (BMus):  Owner and Principal, Piano and Music Theory

I started piano lessons when I was 7 years old and I haven't stopped thus far as I believe that there is always more to be learned!  I have a Bachelors Degree in Musicology (BMus) from Unisa.  I have had three excellent teachers during my career:  Ms Adri Marais, Ms Maria du Plessis, and Doctor Bertha le Roux, who have all had an immense impact on myself as I explored the world of music.

Music, and especially piano music, is my passion.  I love working with young children and enriching their lives with my music knowledge. I have had many students study under my guidance and those who have done examination, have all passed with distinction.  I always do my utmost best to bring the music talent forth in each individual student by assessing their personal interests and aspirations, and developing their technique and knowledge to a far enough level to enable them to achieve their goals.

My goal in life is to bring music into the lives of as many children and adults as I possibly could!

Marthie Breytenbach (BMus):  Clarinet, Recorder, Organ, Piano, Vocals and Music Theory

I am a very passionate musician and teacher.  I started with music at a very young age and it gave me so much joy. Music is my passion and I want to share that with my students. The most important thing for me is to get the students to love and enjoy music.

I obtained the following grades from Unisa:  Theory of Music Grade 6, Piano Grade 8, Clarinet Grade 7 and Organ Grade 7.  I also got my Bachelors Degree in Music (BMus) at the Northwest University with my focus on Music Education and theory of Music.  I have experience in teaching a very broad collection of instruments, as well as vocal training.

In 2008, I was selected as an exchange student to study music in Finland for five months.  It taught me the love for different genres of music as well as music from different cultures. In 2010 I played clarinet in the South African Youth Wind Ensemble. In 2011 I assisted in Music Education workshops for Music Education students at the University of Stellenbosch. I were also teaching music full time at several schools from 2010.
